JBLM Brush Fire Could Be Smoky For Days
The fire has been contained but base officials say smoke will stick around.

LAKEWOOD, WA - A brush fire burning in a training area at Joint Base Lewis-McCord has been mostly contained, according to base officials, but the fire may continue to send up smoke for several days.
The fire broke out Friday night along Dupont-Steilacoom Road. While fighting the fire, firefighters found an un-exploded piece of artillery. A special crew from the base had to remove the ordinance, which caused the road to be closed and delayed firefighting efforts.
Just after 6 p.m. Sunday, the base announced that the fire was contained and mostly extinguished. Firefighters will remain at the scene watching for flare-ups through Monday.
