Make Bolstad Award nominations (chinookobserver.com) — Long Beach residents are invited to nominate outstanding law enforcement officers for the annual Bolstad Award, created in memory of a trooper who died rescuing a teen off the local beach. Any current or former officer serving Pacific or Wahkiakum counties is eligible, and short nomination write-ups can be emailed to organizers before the award is presented by Nov. 8.

2. Local political giving topped $50K to start year (chinookobserver.com) — Long Beach residents helped drive more than $50,000 in federal campaign donations from Pacific County in early 2026, contributing about $7,200 themselves and far more across the peninsula. Most local dollars went to Democratic candidates and causes, with Republicans and third parties receiving smaller shares of the giving pie.

Death threats, resisting arrest land woman in Pacific County Jail (chinookobserver.com) — A Long Beach woman faces felony harassment and assault charges after an alleged confrontation with a neighbor and Long Beach police that led to threats and a struggle during her Sept. 11 arrest. She's being held on multiple counts in Pacific County Superior Court, where a judge has ordered a competency evaluation ahead of her next appearance on Oct. 2.

4. Gas back above $6 in Pacific County (pressnewsagency.org) — Long Beach drivers are again paying more than $6 a gallon for regular gas, giving Pacific County the second-highest average price in Washington. With diesel costs also soaring, the spike is hitting local workers in logging, fishing, and aquaculture especially hard as global tensions and shipping issues keep oil prices elevated.
