• Indoor farming company shutters, more than 50 laid off at Marysville site (heraldnet.com) — More than 50 workers are losing their jobs as indoor farming company 80 Acres Farms shuts down its Marysville facility on 156th Street NE after a planned acquisition fell through. The Ohio-based vertical farm told the state it is permanently winding down operations, with local position cuts expected between this week and August 17.
   

• Voters initially back public-service ballot measures, but hospital lagging (heraldnet.com) — Emergency medical services for areas between Marysville, Arlington, and Stanwood may get a funding boost as Fire District 19’s EMS levy hike is narrowly passing initial counts. Across Snohomish County, voters are mostly backing public-service tax measures for libraries, fire districts, schools, and Everett’s EMS levy, while a large bond for a new Monroe hospital is falling short of the required supermajority.
