• Gun 'mistakenly' brought onto Brentwood Elementary School's campus (tri-cityherald.com) — A parent unintentionally brought a handgun onto Brentwood Elementary’s campus during Thursday morning drop-off, according to Mead School District, but there was no visible or active threat. Staff intervened, the parent returned the gun to their car and left, and the incident was referred to the school resource deputy and Spokane County Sheriff’s Office for follow-up.
   

• FEMA Delivers $9 Million to Help Fire and First Responder Organizations in Oregon, Idaho and Washington (ktvz.com) — Spokane County Fire District 9 in Mead is receiving more than $1.7 million in FEMA funding to help hire, equip, and support firefighters who respond to local emergencies. The grant is part of a $9 million package for departments across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho aimed at boosting staffing, training, and safety.
