• Creative Art Student Society helps people in need (mi-reporter.com) — Mercer Island teens in the Creative Art Student Society just raised $2,000 through an Arts at the Market booth to help families affected by the Spokane wildfires. Led by Mercer Island High School students, the group also supports local seniors with arts activities and even funds projects aiding elderly residents in Korea, showing how Island youth are turning creativity into real-world help. 
• MI's Cyclemates II group holds 55-year reunion (mi-reporter.com) — Former Mercer Island students who biked cross-country to Washington, DC in 1971 recently reunited to reminisce about their 3,600-mile Cyclemates II journey and White House visit with President Richard Nixon. The gathering in Snohomish brought back vivid memories of mountain passes, long days on the road, and the thrill of rolling up to the Washington Monument together.
