2 Alarm Fire At Lake Tapps Elementary

Firefighters say the blaze started in a dumpster.

AUBURN, WA — Firefighters responded to a fire in a dumpster behind Lake Tapps Elementary School Wednesday night.

Crews first reported the blaze around 8:30 p.m. saying it was dangerous enough that they would need to call in a 2nd Alarm for backup.

Video captured by a nearby neighbor shows firefighters as they hurry to contain the blaze:

Though crews managed to quickly get the dumpster fire out, they were worried the flames had spread into the school, and had to sweep the inside of the building, plus the school's attic and roof. However, after a thorough search crews found nothing, and cleared the scene.

It's unclear if there is any smoke damage to the elementary. It's also unknown how the fire got started in the first place.
