Detectives Search For Driver After Hit-And-Run Near Puyallup

Pierce County investigators said a driver left the scene on foot after causing a crash that seriously injured two people Thursday night.

PUYALLUP, WA — Pierce County detectives are searching for the driver of a silver Volkswagen Jetta after a hit-and-run crash injured two people near Puyallup Thursday night. Deputies were called to the intersection of 72nd Street East and 50th Avenue East, in the Waller area, around 7:15 p.m. Investigators learned the Jetta was speeding westbound along 72nd when it t-boned a Toyota Camry, which was turning onto the road from 50th Avenue.

The sheriff's department said the driver and the passenger in the Camry had to be cut from the car, and both suffered serious injuries. Witnesses told deputies the driver of the Jetta left the scene on foot. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact investigators at 253-798-4721.
