Jordon Gish, 16, died early Thursday morning after mistakenly jumping off the side of the North Meridian bridge.

PUYALLUP, WA - The teen who died after a fall off the North Meridian bridge in Puyallup has been identified as Jordon Gish, 16, according to a report by the Tacoma News-Tribune. Gish was walking across the bridge around 4 a.m. Thursday with a 15-year-old friend when the accident happened.

After an investigation, Puyallup police determined that Gish mistakenly hopped over a railing thinking that the two sides of the bridge were connected. The northbound and southbound lanes across the bridge are separated by a wide gap. Gish ended up falling about 30 feet to a sandbar along the Puyallup River.
