Central Pierce Fire & Rescue and the Red Cross are helping with immediate needs, while investigators work to determine what caused the blaze.

• Opening Sept. 13: First section of SR 167 Expressway in north Pierce County (wa.gov) — Drivers in and around Puyallup will soon get relief as the first two miles of the new SR 167 expressway between SR 410 near Puyallup and SR 509 in Tacoma open on Sept. 13. Built in partnership with the Puyallup Tribe, the tolled route should ease port-area congestion and includes major wetland restoration to reduce flooding and improve habitat.
