Traffic Forecast: What To Avoid Around Puget Sound This Weekend

PUYALLUP, WA - The weekend traffic forecast for Puget Sound: spotty closures with a 100 percent chance of various fun events disrupting traffic.

Here's a rundown of all the construction projects and events that might hinder your travel this weekend. As usual, use public transportation to avoid these traffic headaches.

Construction

SR 92 closure, Snohomish County: This busy road links SR 9 in Lake Stevens to Granite Falls All lanes in both directions will be closed beginning Friday at 9 p.m. between 44th Street Northeast and 127th Drive Northeast.

I-5 express lanes, Seattle: Closed southbound until 11 a.m. on Saturday for maintenance work.

Montlake Bridge, Seattle: The left lane in each direction will be closed 6 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. The bridge connects the University District near Husky Stadium to the Montlake/SR 520 area.

I-90 lane closures, North Bend: Eastbound lanes between North Bend and Snoqualmie Pass will be closed. Westbound lanes near Denny Creek will have lane reductions. These changes will last through August.

Events

Meeker Days, Puyallup: The annual festival will close a significant portion of downtown Puyallup streets. See the closure map here.

Mariners vs. Red Sox: Games are at 7:15 p.m. Friday, 5:15 p.m. Saturday, and 1:15 p.m. Sunday. Sounder trains are running for Sunday's game.

Fremont Solstice Festival, Seattle: The main event parade begins at 1 p.m. Saturday in the area between Gasworks Park and the Lenin statue. Expect traffic and street closures throughout the day.

Fenders on Front Street, Issaquah: This event runs from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in downtown Issaquah along Front Street.
