Woman Killed In Late Night Puyallup Crash, Suspect Arrested
Police say the woman got out of her car for unknown reasons, and was hit by a suspected drunk driver.
PUYALLUP, WA — One woman has died, and a man arrested and accused of vehicular homicide stemming from a car crash late Thursday night in Puyallup.
According to a release from the Puyallup Police Department, the crash happened at around 11:26 p.m. in the 300 block of 39th Avenue Southwest.
Based on the officer's preliminary investigation, the victim had been driving eastbound when her car stopped in the outside lane. Officers say that, for unknown reasons, she then stepped outside her car— and was promptly hit by another car.

By the time medics arrived on scene the victim, a 54-year-old Pacific woman, was dead. Meanwhile, officers have arrested the driver who hit her, a 34-year-old man from Federal Way, who police say is believed to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. He has since been booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide.
The roads surrounding the crash were closed for some time as officers investigated, but has since been fully reopened. Police say they will continue to investigate this incident, and ask that anyone with more information about the crash call the Puyallup PD tip line at 253-770-3343.
