• NVIDIA-Backed GRID Automates Robot Development (eweek.com) — A Redmond startup called General Robotics is using its GRID platform to automate much of the tedious work needed to get industrial robots ready for real jobs. Founded by former Microsoft robotics researchers and backed by Nvidia, the company claims GRID can shrink tasks like robot onboarding and AI model integration from weeks to hours. That could make advanced robotics projects more accessible to local manufacturers and logistics firms.
   

• Bellevue expanding use of drones as first responders to police, fire calls (komonews.com) — Bellevue is rolling out a yearlong pilot that lets patrol officers launch drones first to assess police and fire calls, aiming for faster, safer responses and better use of resources. Redmond's similar approach cut officer-initiated responses by nearly 19% when drones showed no in-person response was needed. Bellevue promises strict call-based deployment, data limits, and a public transparency dashboard.
