Bellevue, Washington — September 2026: A proud moment for the Indian-American community in Washington as Nitisha Polkondwar was crowned Femina USA North America Universe 2026, marking a significant milestone in her journey of confidence, culture, creativity, and perseverance.
A trained Bharatanatyam dancer with a background in academics, modeling, and the performing arts, Nitisha brought together her Indian heritage and her experiences in the United States throughout her Femina USA journey. Her participation celebrated not only pageantry, but also the message that confidence, individuality, and cultural identity can shine at every stage of life.
One of the highlights of her journey was the National Costume Round, where Nitisha presented an original concept titled “Cosmic Shakti – The Universe Wears a Woman’s Soul.” The concept portrayed the feminine spirit as a powerful, creative force connected to the universe. Rather than depicting a specific deity, the presentation celebrated the idea of Shakti through cosmic symbolism.
The striking National Costume prop featured a circular cosmic design incorporating elements such as celestial imagery, feathers, crystals, wings, and the Tree of Life, representing creation, strength, interconnectedness, and the infinite potential within every woman.
A special acknowledgment goes to Vijaya Kokkili, the talented prop maker who helped bring Nitisha’s National Costume vision to life. Her craftsmanship and attention to detail contributed to the visual storytelling of the presentation and helped transform the concept of Cosmic Shakti into a memorable stage piece.
Nitisha’s crowning as Femina USA North America Universe 2026 is a celebration of her journey and the message she hopes to carry forward: that a woman’s strength is not defined by a single appearance, background, or circumstance, but by her courage to embrace who she is and pursue her dreams.
