New Redmond Police Chief Comes From Los Angeles Area
The Redmond City Council confirmed Darrell Lowe as Redmond's new chief on Tuesday night.

REDMOND, WA — The Redmond City Council on Tuesday confirmed Mayor John Marchione's pick to replace retired former police chief Kristi Wilson.
Redmond's new chief will be Darrell Lowe, who served in multiple positions with the Santa Monica, Calif., police department. Lowe worked for 27 years as a captain, commander, and executive officer. He also worked as an adjunct professor at colleges in California.
"I am humbled and honored to join the fine women and men of the Redmond Police Department as their Chief," Lowe said in a statement. "I am also excited to join the City’s collaborative executive team as we continue to provide exceptional service to the citizens of Redmond."

Wilson, who worked for Redmond police for 26 years, announced her retirement in April. Redmond fire Chief Tommy Smith served as interim chief after Wilson formally retired in June.
The Council also appointed Cathryn Laird as Human Resources Director. She has served for the last three years as Redmond's deputy HR manager.
