Volunteer To Serve On Redmond Parks, Trails Board

REDMOND, WA - From The City of Redmond: The City of Redmond is recruiting a new volunteer member for the Parks and Trails Commission who is currently a Redmond resident. Parks and Trails Commissioners meet on the first Thursday of every month and serve a four-year term that may be renewed. The Parks and Trails Commission works to improve the quality of life for the Redmond Community by advising the Mayor and City Council on parks, trails, and recreational facility planning and programming in the city.

The work program for the commission currently includes advising staff and City Council on the Capital Investment Strategy for long-term parks projects, the future of Redmond’s Community Centers, and various planning and capital projects. The commission is also advising staff and City Council on recreational programming fees and strategies, a tree canopy strategy, and an American’s with Disabilities Act Transition Plan for the parks system.

In addition to monthly meetings, Commissioners participate on special committees and attend public meetings and events. They cultivate community engagement around Parks and Recreation Department projects and programs as well as occasionally attending City Council and other commission meetings. The Commission also interfaces with the broader community, so that it can represent community members’ interests to the City Council.
