Cross Country Teams to Open Season at Linfield Harrier Classic (thurstontalk.com) — Evergreen State College runners will be in Redmond on Monday, Sept. 7, racing the Redmond Harvest Half Marathon starting at 8:30 a.m. The meet caps a busy opening weekend that begins with the Linfield Harrier Classic in Oregon, giving local fans a rare chance to watch collegiate athletes compete on Redmond streets.
   

2. Sound Transit announces it will open Pinehurst Station in North Seattle to light rail riders on September 30th, 2026 (nwprogressive.org) — Sound Transit will open the new Pinehurst Station in North Seattle on September 30, 2026, while also highlighting that the Downtown Redmond Link extension has already been accelerated and opened ahead of many other ST3 projects. For Redmond riders, this means more of the regional light rail spine is in place, improving connections between their hometown, North Seattle, and Snohomish County as future expansions slowly move forward.
   

3. Fermi Explorer Mission Will be First to Leave, Last to Arrive at Alpha Centauri (techeblog.com) — A new nonprofit based in Redmond, Fermi Explorer Mission, is planning an ambitious low-budget probe to the Alpha Centauri star system, targeting launch by 2029. Led by local space-industry veterans, the group aims to design, build, and operate the interstellar craft from Redmond while keeping costs under $15 million and relying on proven ion-thruster technology.
   

4. Climate action programming for school and public libraries (ala.org) — One of the coauthors of a new climate‑action programming guide for libraries works right here at the King County Library System branch in Redmond. The book offers 60 research‑based program ideas to help librarians turn young people's eco‑anxiety into constructive climate action, with adaptable activities for schools and public libraries of all sizes.
