14 Free Pianos Available In SeaTac Thursday Morning

Formerly owned by the Highline School District, the pianos need to get picked up or they're going to a landfill.

SEATAC, WA - Do you know how much a new piano costs? Close to $9,000 - and that's for a vertical piano, not even a grand piano. So if you're interested in owning a piano but don't have a big budget, plan to make a trip to SeaTac Thursday morning.

That's because someone is giving away 14 pianos for free, according to a Craigslist ad. The pianos were once owned by the Highline School District (Burien, SeaTac, Des Moines), but have been in storage for years.

"I have 14 free pianos from the [Highline] public schools. They have been in storage and I have not seen them in person so unknown condition. I am hoping there is a music lover out there that could use these, or an artist with a vision," the ad reads. "I don't want to have to take them to a landfill."

According to pictures in the ad, the pianos appear to be a mix of upright and - possibly - electric versions (the pictures are very small). If you're interested - or know a church, school, or nonprofit that needs a piano - head to the Glacier Site (an old school slated for demolition) at 2450 South 142nd Street in SeaTac at noon on Thursday.
