Old Fashioned Halloween Party (greaterseattleonthecheap.com) (greaterseattleonthecheap.com) — Downtown Renton is gearing up for a free, family-friendly Old Fashioned Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 1–4 p.m. at Legacy Square and nearby streets. You can trick-or-treat at local businesses, learn the Thriller dance, enter costume and pumpkin contests, enjoy food and vendors, and even bid on special pumpkins in a community auction.
2. Renton City Council to hold public hearing on state initiatives (rentonreporter.com) — Renton residents will have a chance to weigh in on two controversial statewide education initiatives at a public hearing during the Oct. 19 City Council meeting at Renton City Hall. Councilmembers are split on whether the city should take an official stance, but they agreed to hear local testimony first, especially given the measures' potential impact on Renton students and families.
3. Raising Cane's is headed to Lakewood, steps from Chick-fil-A. Construction could start this month (mynorthwest.com) — Raising Cane's still lists Renton on its website even though the company canceled plans for a restaurant at 250 Rainier Ave. S. after signing a lease in 2023. Instead, new locations are moving ahead in Lakewood, Puyallup, and Burlington, leaving Renton residents watching nearby openings while their own proposed site remains shelved.
4. Finalists announced for second ballot class of Eternal Sounders Circle of Legends (soundersfc.com) — Renton is the dateline for Sounders FC's announcement of four finalists for the Eternal Sounders Circle of Legends, with fan voting opening October 12 and running through early November. Local supporters can help choose which club greats join previous inductees like Kasey Keller and Sigi Schmid through in-stadium and online ballots tied to the broader Sounders Ballot.
