If you care about a well-run city with leaders of good values, Ben Johnson running for Renton City Council Position #2 is someone to consider.

As a 30 year Renton resident, I met Ben as part of many Renton neighbors who came together to save Renton's iconic, downtown Cedar River Library against the initial City & King Co. Library System plan to move the library next to the Renton Transit Center.

Ben advocated to keep the library over the Cedar River. He marched in the Renton River Days Parade with his young boys as part of neighbors rallying community support to save it. Ben cares. And Renton preserved its one of a kind library location where today you can still see Salmon swimming underneath. Ben isn't afraid to go against established interests. He listened to his heart and the hearts of many Renton residents. 76% of our community ended up voting to save our unique library. In the end, we got a brand new library at its picturesque location.

Here's another view of Ben. I had the wonderful opportunity to work for Ben's company providing IT service to small businesses and nonprofits for nearly four years until January 2018. I saw him and company techs really care about service and observed Ben give generously to help a number of non profit groups with low cost service--and saw him donate computers and time to some. He had a big heart--and he never sent out press releases about his good deeds.

Ben demanded innovation! As part of company weekly meetings, he asked each employee to share an idea of improvement for the company. He was an eager listener. But it was also an expectation. With a mindset of listening to ideas and encouraging out-of-the-box thinking, Ben will be a great addition to the council to advocate the best for our city.

I am not involved in any way with his company today. Ben isn't even aware I'm writing this. This is just my small contribution for residents to know more about our neighbor Ben Johnson. His official campaign site is https://benforrenton.com/ where you can find out more.

Ben Johnson will work hard to help Renton be a city spurring innovation, opportunity and community well-being--because that's what he has already done as community volunteer and Renton-based small business owner.

Ben is worth consideration for your vote for Renton Council Position #2. The ballot is already in your home. I hope this has been educational. Go Renton!
