A new public market is coming to Renton (kiro7.com) — A new Renton Market is under construction at 233 Burnett Avenue South, next to Piazza Park and Legacy Square, bringing a daily public marketplace with local vendors and artisan goods. The city is finishing inspections and park improvements, including irrigation, benches, and a new stage, before handing the keys to the operator, though an opening date hasn't been announced yet.

2. 'Somebody's hurt, you got to help them': Doofers bartender provides aid to shooting victim (kiro7.com) — A shooting outside Doofers Bar & Grill in the East Renton Highlands left a regular customer wounded, but a longtime bartender and another patron quickly gave first aid until medics arrived. The victim is expected to recover, while the King County Sheriff's Office continues searching for the suspect allegedly connected to a neighboring banquet hall event.

3. Federal Way, WA man sentenced for role in massive drug ring (fox13seattle.com) — A large federal fentanyl trafficking case has led to multiple prison sentences across Western Washington, including 70 months for 22-year-old Robert Johnson of Renton. Prosecutors say the family-led ring moved hundreds of thousands of pills and dozens of guns, with several members already sentenced and the alleged leaders scheduled for trial in July 2027.

4. '70-man' Seahawks need practice-squad safeties to step up for NFL opener (thenewstribune.com) — Seahawks practices at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton are spotlighting depth concerns at safety just days before the NFL opener. With starters Nick Emmanwori and Ty Okada likely out, practice-squad veterans D'Anthony Bell and Rodney Thomas II may be elevated into key roles as coaches lean on the full "70-man" roster.
