How To Navigate The "Month Of Love" When You Aren't Surrounded By It

Love isn't limited to romance, and you don't have to sit on the sidelines just because your life looks different right now.

February can feel loud when you’re moving through life without much love around you. Everywhere you look—store aisles, social media, commercials—you’re reminded that this is the “month of love.” But the truth is, love isn’t limited to romance, and you don’t have to sit on the sidelines just because your life looks different right now.

One of the most grounding things you can do is shift the focus inward. Instead of asking, “Who loves me?” try asking, “How can I care for myself today?” Small acts—making your favorite breakfast, tidying a space that’s been bothering you, or taking a quiet walk—can create a sense of steadiness and comfort.

It also helps to widen your definition of love. Think about the people who check in on you, the coworker who makes you laugh, the neighbor who waves, the friend who sends a random meme. These tiny threads of connection count more than we often realize.
And if this month still feels heavy, that’s okay. You’re allowed to feel the ache and still move gently through it. Love isn’t something you’re missing—it’s something you’re building, slowly, through kindness, resilience, and the way you keep showing up for yourself.
