'Increased Volume' Forces King County Elections To Open Saturday
The county is seeing a surge in voter registrations. They will be open on Saturday to sign up new voters.

RENTON, WA - It appears King County Elections is experiencing a good problem. So many people are registering to vote, the office will open this Saturday to handle the volume.
The 2018 midterm elections are attracting lots of new voters across the U.S., whether it's because of Taylor Swift, voter suppression in some states, or high-stakes races. According to the Secretary of State, just under 10 percent of King County registered voters have returned ballots so far (as of Wednesday night).
The deadline to register to vote in Washington online has passed. But new voters can still register in person until Monday (Oct. 29). Here are the criteria to register in-person:

- A citizen of the United States
- A legal resident of Washington state
- At least 18 years old by Election Day
- Not under Department of Corrections supervision for a Washington felony conviction
- Not disqualified from voting due to a court order
To register in-person, visit the King County Elections office in Renton, 919 Southwest Grady Way, on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office will be open to new voters Thursday, Friday, and Monday during those same hours.
