14 Apply For Issaquah Council Vacant Seat

ISSAQUAH, WA - Fourteen people have applied for the vacant Position 3 seat on the Issaquah City Council, according to city officials. The seat became vacant after the November 2017 election after the candidate who won had to move out of town.

Justin Walsh ran unopposed for the seat, largely on a platform of bringing more affordable housing to Issaquah. But he ultimately had to move to North Bend because, ironically, Issaquah became un-affordable for him. Since he was no longer a resident, Walsh could not serve on the Council.

Fourteen people responded to volunteer for the post. You can read each of their applications here. Citizens can meet the candidates at a Jan. 16 special Council meeting at 5:30 p.m. Each candidate will give a 10-minute presentation at the meeting.
