Gibson Hall

A free 90-min session for Issaquah-area homeowners on what backyard cottages actually cost, what the rules allow, and how long they take.
Backyard cottages — also called detached ADUs or DADUs — have become a common question for Eastside homeowners. The rules have changed in recent years, and most of what people know comes secondhand: a neighbor's project, a headline, a number someone heard once.
This 90-minute session covers the three things worth knowing before you start:

What the rules allow today — and what's specific to where you live

What building one actually costs — a real range from projects we've built, and the factors that move it

How long the process takes — from first conversation to finished structure

We'll also walk through a quick way to check whether your own lot is likely to qualify.
You don't need to be ready to build. Most people in the room are still deciding whether a backyard cottage makes sense for them at all, and this session is built for that stage. Nothing is sold in the room.
The last half hour is set aside for questions, which is often the most useful part of the evening. Bring yours.
This is one of a series of free homeowner education sessions we're holding across Eastside communities this fall.
Wednesday, October 14 Doors 5:45 · Program 6:00–7:30 PM Free to attend · Free parking
Hosted by Dream DADU, a design-build firm on the Eastside, and presented by our founder, Toph Villa. Held at Gibson Hall in Issaquah. Reserved parking is available behind the building — the posted signs read "Load and Unload Only," but those spots are held for our guests for the evening. Free street parking is also available nearby.
Please let us know if you need any accommodations to attend. client@dreamdadu.com

Please purchase a $5 VIP ticket for each child who will be trick-or-treating.

Adults and babies who are not trick-or-treating do not need a VIP ticket.

Pets do not need a ticket. Pets will have a separate entrance if they are not attending as part of a group with children.

We are not able to accommodate any additional children with your group. All children must have their own ticket or join the standby line.

Tickets are non-refundable.

We are not able to accommodate entries after your reserved time, so we recommend arriving early. If you arrive after your 10-minute time window has ended, you will be asked to join the standby line and your ticket(s) will not be refunded.

What to Expect

Costumes are encouraged and each child should bring a bag for their treats. Please plan a little extra time for traffic and parking to ensure you arrive on time. Be prepared for the weather, as the lines will be outside and uncovered. We will do our best to admit everyone in the standby line and appreciate your patience as we navigate through the process.
Entry will be permitted ONLY through the main door. When you arrive, those with VIP Tickets with timeslot reservations should find the line for their time. The standby line will be on the south side of the building along Park Drive.
Once inside, kids are invited to follow the orange path on the floor to engage in activities planned and run by local youth as well as local businesses. Please do not attempt to visit the stations out of order. You may choose to skip a station; however, you will not have the option to go back. We estimate the time to go through all stations once you’re inside will be about 15 minutes. There will be plenty of photo opportunities, so feel free to capture the fun!
Pet trick-or-treating will be on the patio located on the east side of the building. Look for the green pop-up tent! You may enter the patio directly with your pet(s) – no need to wait in the main lines. There is no access to the main trick-or-treating from the patio.
A few important notes:

If you have a VIP Ticket with a timeslot reservation, we are not able to accommodate any additional children with your group. All children must have their own ticket or join the standby line.

If you do not have a VIP Ticket (or are waitlisted), please join the standby line when you arrive. We do expect everyone will be admitted, the wait just might be a little longer.

The line will be closed and there will be no admittance to anyone arriving after 2 p.m. We will do our best to accommodate everyone in line at 2 p.m.

We look forward to a spooktacular time!

Keep Issaquah Beautiful Day – Clean Up November 1

Let’s keep our beautiful community clean!

CHECK IN AT THE HISTORIC SHELL STATION AT 232 FRONT STREET N.

Let’s keep our beautiful community clean!

Please join us on October 31, Rain or Shine! 10 am – noon in various locations in Issaquah.

Keep Issaquah Beautiful Day is a community volunteer day led by the Downtown Issaquah Association. Neighbors, businesses, and civic partners come together to care for the places that make Issaquah special—through litter cleanup, planting, painting, and hands-on beautification across downtown and nearby areas. In just a few hours, volunteers make a visible difference.
More than a cleanup, the day builds civic pride and a shared sense of ownership. It connects people, supports local partnerships, and reinforces a simple idea: a vibrant, welcoming Issaquah is something we create together.
The program runs year-round with three large seasonal events (2026 dates: Earth Day, Saturday April 18, Saturday July 11 & Saturday October 31).
Clean-up kit check-out is available year-round – Grab a few friends and organize your own clean-up!
Next Clean Up Date – 2027 TBD
You are invited to roll up your sleeves and join in the city-wide clean-up on Saturday, October 31, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Check in at the Historic Shell Station (232 Front Street N, Issaquah, WA 98027). Volunteers – both groups and individuals – are needed to spend a couple of hours making a difference in our community. All are welcome to help with trash pickup, weeding & planting & sidewalk maintenance. There are jobs for all ages and abilities, and flexible schedules. Participants are encouraged to bring their own work gloves. Students can earn their community service hours. Bring a friend, make new friends! Make a difference in your community. We are also looking for groups to lead cleanups in their own neighborhood
