The reason that I'm opposed to the Sammamish Mosque's expansion is not because of a hatred of all things Muslim. It's because it’s an organization that promotes spousal abuse. If a Catholic or Jewish house of worship — in fact, if any organization at all, religious or secular — espoused such practices, I'd be opposed to that being in my neighborhood, too.
The mosque's imam published a lecture (http://www.popmodal.com/video/7382/US-Imam-Allah-is-clear-you-can-hit-your-wife) where he taught men to hit their wives if they disobey, walk on the street, or take off their hijab. This abuse-encouraging video gained international notoriety; for example, it was aired on a Canadian TV show last year (http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/video/search/all/breeding-hate/1231337124001).
Pity the women of this mosque, who cover their heads under threat of violence.

Again, there is no bigotry here, unless being opposed to wife beating is bigotry. Join me in educating our neighbors, including those new to our country and culture, that hitting women is unacceptable, illegal, and immoral.
