In the spirit of the season, the trolley will come out for a limited run during the Issaquah History Museums' Holiday Open House at the Depot on Saturday, December 1. Issaquah Valley Trolley's #519 car will operate from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on a short route from the Depot to Front St. and back. Rides will be free, although donations to help defray the cost of operation will be appreciated.
In addition to riding the trolley, be sure to visit the open house in the Depot. Now in its ninth year, the Holiday Open House has become an Issaquah tradition. During the day the Depot is alive with activities including a visit from Santa, a holiday craft fair, music by the Essie Blue band, and a children's craft table. Homemade cookies, coffee and cocoa add to the festive atmosphere. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
This is an opportunity to shop local by selecting unique, hand-made gifts and stocking stuffers from area crafters. The craft tables will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Santa is scheduled to make his entrance at 11 a.m. Taking time out from his busy holiday schedule, he will be able to stay and visit with children until 2 p.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras and take their own memorable holiday photos.
Bringing history and creativity together, children will have the opportunity to make a holiday ornament inspired by vintage ornaments from Museums' collection. The children's craft table will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
After the holiday run, the trolley car will return to her barn for the winter
