Issaquah History Museums present 'The Past Catches - Hunting and Fishing in Old Issaquah'

It's an encore! On Saturday January 12th, the Issaquah History Museums hosted a special program on hunting
and fishing in historic Issaquah, featuring an insightful presentation by the Museums' director, Erica Maniez. On February 16th, the Museums are proud to host an encore of ‘The Past Catches: Hunting and Fishing in Old Issaquah’ on February 16 at 11:00 AM in the Issaquah Depot (150 1ST Avenue NE). The free event will feature cookies, coffee, and hot cocoa, as well as rousing tales from some of Issaquah's best storytellers.
Until Issaquah’s transformation from a small, rural town to a bustling bedroom community, growing up in Issaquah entailed hunting and fishing. There were countless fish to catch in the nearby lakes and streams and game to hunt in the woods and wetlands. The hunting and fishing expeditions provided essential food for the table, recreation, and the ingredients of entertaining tableside conversation.
Many of the hunting and fishing tales have survived, along with photos capturing the atmosphere of the old hunting and fishing trips. A panel of speakers will share some of these stories. Attendees are welcome to share their own accounts of Issaquah’s hunting and fishing past or send them to the Museum staff in advance.
Please contact the Issaquah History Museums if you have stories you’d like to share, would like more information about this event, or want to learn about volunteer opportunities (425/392-3500 or info@issaquahhistory.org).
