Sammamish to Sandy Hook

Editor's note: Please see the comments section of this announcement. Jan has posted there that the project has changed to rubber ducks because of needs in the town.

Peter my son and I are going to Sandy Hook durong spring break. A Blackwell family moved to Sandy Hook 6 years ago, and we go out there to visit.

We want to take a gift from the friendliest town in America.
We would like to buy all the kids in Sandy Hook Elementary an ice cream cone.

They do not need gifts.
... If you can donate $1, it will help us.
My address is
2019 213th Ave NE
Sammamish WA 98074

My fund raising will stop April 2nd.

Thank you,
Jan and Peter Holmes

We went to this shop, in 2009, and how I wished we had one around here, the ice cream is wonderful.
I will include a card with notes from anyone wanting to write one. If you want to make a check out, please make it to Newton Ice Cream Shop, or Sandy Hook Elementary.

this is a super small family owned staple in newtown that has outlasted most big chain ice cream shops. i grew up in newtown then moved to arizona. this is a huge treat for me whenever i visit ct. i am 42, and went on a field trip here when i was 5. they basically haven't changed anything. this is a favorite of anyone who's grown up in the area. they serve excellent soft serve ice cream as well as regular ice cream, sundaes, banana splits, shakes, etc... it's a tiny place, but the charm of it is that you sit outside on picnic tables or you sit on the rock bench that's been there for a million years or sit in your car in the large gravel parking lot. this is a gathering place. people of all ages go here and socialize with everyone else at the tables or wherever. they have pictures plastered on the interior walls of people who have been going there for 40 years. i can still see the friends i had 35 years ago hanging on the wall. this is a great old fashioned place with new stuff on the menu too. you can also order ice cream cakes. there's only been two owners in atleast 38 years. if you've never been here, go here and start your own family tradition. great, homey, landmark. inexpensive as well.
