ISSAQUAH, WA — A second case of head lice was found at the Issaquah Community Center over the weekend, prompting city officials to warn residents about how easily the bugs spread.

The newest case was found on July 14, according to the parks department. The first case was reported in late June, and the community center was cleaned at that time. The parks department said the center will be cleaned again this week.

"Lice infestations (pediculosis and pthiriasis) are spread most commonly by close person-to-person contact. Dogs, cats, and other pets do not play a role in the transmission of human lice. Lice move by crawling; they cannot hop or fly. Both over-the-counter and prescription medications are available for treatment of lice infestations," a Centers for Disease Control description of head lice reads.
