Barbara Martin of Sammamish Elected to Washington State PTA Secretary

The election took place at the WSPTA's 98th Annual Convention held in SeaTac last month.

Barbara Martin of Sammamish was recently elected as Washington State PTA Secretary for a two-year term, which began June 1, 2011.  The election took place in connection with WSPTA’s 98th Annual Convention held in SeaTac last month. As secretary, Martin will keep accurate records of WSPTA Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Convention, and Legislative Assembly meetings. She will also serve on the Association’s governing Board of Directors. 

“My ‘official’ duties require accuracy and a great attention to detail and I feel that I have the necessary tools and experience to fulfill these requirements. I look forward to an open exchange of ideas and I will have the highest regard for my fellow board members, as well as all members of PTA.,” Martin said.

Martin has been actively involved in PTA at the local, council and state levels. At the local level, she has served as PTA President and Secretary, and numerous committee chair positions. At the council level, she just finished a 7-year period on the Lake Washington PTSA Council serving in various leadership positions. At the state level, she has served on the Region 2 Service Delivery Team for three years.

In addition to her service in PTA, Martin also works as a marketing consultant, volunteers at , and serves on the Coalition for Essential Schools committee at Inglewood Junior High. In addition, she has a wonderful husband and two great children.
