Beaver Lake Middle School Announces new Principal

Dear Beaver Lake families,

We are very pleased to announce that Ms. Stacy Cho will bring her outstanding background in instructional leadership and student-centered vision to Beaver Lake as your new principal on July 1.

Ms. Cho has been a junior high school assistant principal in the Northshore School District for the past four years.  Her broad intellectual perspective that was so apparent to the members of the interview team comes from twelve years experience in diverse educational settings—from inner city Atlanta to Mercer Island to Northshore. Ms. Cho earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mathematics from Emory University and spent eight years teaching high school and middle school math. She became a National Board Certified teacher in 2007.  

During her four years as an administrator, Ms. Cho has been an excellent instructional leader, guiding staff in many professional development opportunities that included learning about the teenage brain. Staff members have not been the only ones to experience her considerable skills as an educator and administrator. Students sense her keen interest in them and they thrive under her care. A colleague described her this way. “She is a visionary and a team player, always striving to work with others to achieve the best results for students.  She eagerly engages students in conversations about their individual progress and success and holds high standards for each and every one.” Parents and community members benefit from Ms. Cho’s collaborative nature, too. She values the time she spends meeting and talking with parents. She is comfortable with open dialogue with all stakeholders and believes that it takes everyone doing their part to have a successful school.

We know that Beaver Lake will be a stimulating, positive place for students under Ms. Cho’s guidance. She is an excellent match with the priorities you expressed as a community in surveys recently. She is a leader who will form authentic partnerships with all members of the learning community to keep everyone focused where it counts: on students.
