Big Lake Sammamish Parkway Detour Begins Tuesday

The detour at East Lake Sammamish Parkway runs through June 19.

ISSAQUAH, WA - Prepare for a major six-day detour affecting I-90 exit ramps and East Lake Sammamish Parkway in Issaquah. The detour goes into effect Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. and lasts until 5 a.m. on June 19. WSDOT crews will be working on installing a new culvert in the area to help migratory fish.

The construction crews will install the culvert to realign the flow of the North Fork of Issaquah Creek under East Lake Sammamish Parkway. The realignment will widen the flow of water, making it easier for salmon and trout to swim upstream, according to WSDOT. The project is part of a 2013 court ruling requiring the state to replace 475 culverts across the state to help migratory fish.

  • Crews will close East Lake Sammamish Parkway to both directions of traffic north of the I-90 on- and off-ramps to Front Street from 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, until 5 a.m. Monday, June 19.
  • Drivers will still have access to all of the I-90 on- and off-ramps to Front Street throughout the closure.
  • Crews will set up signed detour routes in both directions.
