Meet Sarah Brighton.
Sarah is a collage and mixed media artist, and she would be the first one to tell you that this focus is the perfect outlet for someone with many interests, a love of a good story, and an itch to collect. As she says, “I have created many different pieces including clay jewelry, vintage stained glass pendants, art dolls, altered art, recycled art, paintings and sketches, but my favorite application has to be collage. I feel very free when I create my collages and I am at my happiest when covered in paints, acrylic mediums, papers and embellishments! “
Sarah normally starts a work by painting a canvas or picking out a background paper without knowing what it will turn into, and it’s the anticipation of what will happen next that excites her. “I like my work to be positive, so I almost always include words or phrases that encourage and exude a positive message. I am drawn to creating with anything vintage, particularly old photographs. I love to imagine the story that comes along with the people in the photos. I also enjoy browsing through Antique shops in search of old game pieces, lace, buttons and anything else I feel I can use!”

This Sammamish maker originally comes from Yorkshire in the northeast of England, and she discovered her creative side in 1998 after moving from
Bloomington, MN. She is an active member of artEAST, where she is a frequent instructor and guest demonstration artist. Her work is widely featured by
companies like Tsukineko, A Muse Rubber Stamps, Rubber Soul, and Clearsnap (her work is in the 2012 catalog). In 2011, Sarah was also interviewed and featured in the Sammamish Review newspaper. And that`s not all. She also has a YouTube channel where she creates free art demos. It`s apparent that Sarah
is both a master of her media and knows her way around opportunities to teach
and share.
