March 18-24 is Fix a Leak Week!

Check your home and outdoor hardware to find and fix leaks.

Get a wrench and fix that leaky faucet!  Faucet repair can save up to 300 gallons a month.

Watch your mailbox this week for your toilet dye strips from Cascade Water Alliance.  Put a strip in the toilet tank. If the dye leaks into the toilet without flushing, you may have a leak.  Leaky toilets can waste over 100 gallons per
day.  Fixing a toilet leak could save up to 1,000 gallons a month!

Monitor your water bill for unusually high use.  Your bill and water meter are tools that can help you discover leaks.

We’re more likely to notice leaks indoors, but don’t forget to check outdoor faucets, sprinklers, and hoses for leaks.

Your irrigation system may be leaking, but it will only leak while operating and you will not observe a spin on the meter. Each spring, when you start up your irrigation system, check your backflow assemblies, valve boxes, sprinkler heads and other system components for leaks.  Check your system for leaks several times throughout the summer.  If your summer usage seems unusually high and you can’t identify a leak, contact a certified irrigation specialist from the Irrigation Association at www.irrigation.org.
