Meeting State Water Use Efficiency Standards

Learn how municipal water suppliers are meeting state water use efficiency regulations.

The Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District is one of hundreds of municipal water suppliers who are required by Washington state law to comply with the Water Use Efficiency Rule.  The Partnership for Water Conservation recently released a report describing how water suppliers are complying with the rule. 

Some of the report highlights include:

Eighty-eight percent (88%) of water suppliers currently meter all service connections, including the District.

Sixty-eight percent (68%) reported three year rolling average leakage values below the state leakage standard.  The District's leakage percentage in 2012 was 5.83%.

Seventy four percent (74%) of municipal water suppliers have implemented conservation based rate structures.
