There's Still Room in Issaquah Summer Salmon Camp

Been wondering what to do with the kids this summer? We’ve got just the ticket. Enroll them in Summer Salmon Camp. This popular day camp program at the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery still has a few openings left for children ages six to eleven.

Campers will have fun learning all about the salmon life cycle and watershed stewardship as they conduct a water quality and aquatic insect study of Issaquah Creek, perform experiments, go on a nature hike, make arts and crafts, play games, use microscopes, hear Native American legends and more!

We know that lessons learned early in life often stick with a person for a lifetime. FISH is concerned about our waterways and salmon habitat. If we want the Salmon to “keep coming home” we need to educate our youth about their importance to the ecology of the region, to our culture and our commerce. Summer camp is an ideal way to have fun and learn those early lessons at the same time.

Many of our campers return for a second and third year. Our education coordinator, Celina Steiger, is an environmental educator who has been managing our summer camp and school year education programs for seven years. She continues to create fun educational curriculums that challenge young minds to explore their world and the world of salmon.
