City Government Beckons Longtime Sammamish Resident

John Robinson Looks at Giving Back to His Sammamish Community

Since his recent retirement, John Robinson is following a path he has longed for; to give back to his community. John has lived in Sammamish since 1988 where he raised his family, forged friendships, and created life memories.

John, along wife his wife Daphne, built their home and life in Hampton Woods 29 years ago. They have four grown daughters and two grandchildren, all residing in the Pacific Northwest area.

One of John’s fondest memories when his children were growing up, was reprising and organizing the Margaret Mead Elementary School Science Fair. Because John has his BA degree in biology, he was excited about sharing his love of science with the students and seeing their impressive experiments and science explorations. He stressed that the children be “science detectives”.

The Robinson’s youngest daughter, Emily, seemed to have caught the science bug too! She earned a BS degree in biochemistry, and after a two-year stint at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, will be attending UW School of Medicine in August of 2017.

After his own long career focused on the healthcare industry, John retired in December of 2016 and has set his sights on Sammamish City Council. John is currently running for position #7. If elected, he brings his business acumen and ability to work collaboratively with the goal of accomplishing a shared vision.

John is passionate about working for Sammamish and our citizens to create a city plan that retains and enhances our unique city character, partnering with our cities to the north and south of Sammamish to develop a workable plan to mediate traffic issues, and protect and preserve our precious environment, all while being fiscally conservative.

Among the many challenging issues facing Sammamish, a big concern for John is the potential threat to the quality of the Sammamish water supply. Sammamish is valued for it’s beautiful environment and residents have long benefited from fresh, chemical free water supplied from natural underground aquifers. A number of factors related to growth and contaminates could be a threat to the quality and safety of Sammamish residents’ water sources. John is fervent that we protect our valued water resource and Lake Sammamish for all our children and grandchildren.

There will be abundantly more vital considerations facing our coveted city of Sammamish as it continues to grow and flourish. John has a lifelong vested interest in making sure that we all have a shared vision of keeping Sammamish a clean, beautiful, and safe place to live for generations to come.
