Closure Of East Lake Sammamish Trail Begins Monday

A portion of the East Lake Sammamish trail will be closed through Aug. 30 for construction work.

SAMMAMISH, WA - An approximately month-long closure of a portion of the East Lake Sammamish trail begins Monday, according to King County.

Construction crews will be replacing a culvert over Zackuse Creek, which crosses the East Lake Sammamish trail just south of Louise Thompson Road. But crews will be doing many more upgrades to the trail, according to King County, including new fencing, new plantings, and new pavement.

The trail opened in 2006 as a gravel trail along an old railroad bed. The county has been improving the trail over the past decade, and it will eventually connect the Burke Gilman Trail in Seattle all the way to the Cascade foothills in Issaquah.
