SAMMAMISH, WA — A proposal to build hundreds of units of housing and some 82,000 square feet of commercial space in the Town Center area has passed a major hurdle.

The city said Thursday that developer STCA's Town Center plans have passed concurrency tests — which essentially means the plans are in line with the state Growth Management Act.

With concurrency, STCA can begin applying for city permits to actually begin development. STCA has 180 days to apply for land use permits, according to city officials.

STCA's development would sit at the southwest corner of 228th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 4th Street between City Hall and the new Metropolitan Market development.

The development consists of 300 apartments, 57 town homes with 12 live-work units, and 62 single-family homes. Of the total commercial space, 56,000 square-feet would be retail, 22,100 would be for sit-down restaurant space, and 3,900 square would be for fast-service restaurant space.
