Eastside Catholic Wrestling Coach and Wrestler Earn League Honors
EC Wrestling coach named coach of the year, freshman phenom named wrestler of the year.
Following a succesful performance that saw the wrestling team finish in third place overall at the recent Metro League Tournament, Coach Dennis Reddinger was named Coach of the Year and Freshman Matt Iwicki was named Wrestler of the Year.
The Eastside Catholic team finished with 13 medalists in the tournament, including one champion and four runners-up.
For the season, Iwicki went undefeated in league competition in the 113 pound weight class and won multiple tournaments.

Coach Reddinger praised Iwicki for his great season and was happy that he wasn't the only one who noticed his performance.
"It's nice that the other coaches would recognize him," Coach Reddinger said.

Coach Reddinger said that wrestling is Iwicki's life, and his number three state ranking by the Washington Wrestling Report is evidence of that. However, Iwicki is also a 4.0 student, so he must have some life left for the classroom as well.
As for his own award, Coach Reddinger was pleased to be recognized by his peers but gave his wrestlers most of the credit.
"It's a testimony to the kids themselves," Coach Reddinger said.
