Family Of 4 Displaced After Fire Hits Sammamish Home
The fire broke out around 5 p.m., and firefighters had to work around ammunition possibly stored in the home.
SAMMAMISH, WA — A fire mostly destroyed a home near Eastlake High School on Tuesday evening, although no one was home at the time, according to fire officials.
The fire was first reported around 5 p.m. at a home at the end of Northeast 4th Street, just east of the high school. The fire was out by around 6:30 p.m., although firefighters encountered some difficulty fighting the fire — there was ammunition stored in the home, and the building's stability was possibly compromised during the fire.
A family of four lived in the house, but were not there when the fire broke out. A neighbor called 911 after seeing smoke coming from the home, according to Eastside Fire. The King County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
