Grant awarded to The Sammamish Heritage Society

The Sammamish Heritage Society to conduct a survey of historic properties.

The Sammamish Heritage Society (SHS) has been awarded a grant to conduct a survey of historic properties in Sammamish. In cooperation with the City, SHS was motivated to begin the project due to the public outcry at the loss of the Kampp Barn, the increasing amount of subdivision development and the subsequent loss of historic properties. The survey is funded by 4Culture, a King County Cultural Services agency which funds grants with moneys received from hotel and motel taxes, and will be conducted by teams of SHS volunteers. In the current phase of the project, the teams will be completing field forms and photographing properties existing prior to 1941. There are no regulatory implications for property owners and the information will be made available to the City and property owners. A public meeting will be held upon completion to disseminate the findings.

Please contact SHS at sammamish.heritage@hotmail.com with any helpful information or questions.
