· Take a walk on your lunch break. It’s great post-meal and helps speed up your metabolism while also keeping you energized for the remainder of your workday.

· Floss daily! Flossing helps to prevent bacteria from developing into gum disease and elongates life expectancy.

· Eliminate sodas from you diet completely and replace with a natural, low-in-sugar fruit juice if flavor is essential. Drinking soda regularly can lead to obesity, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.

· Ask yourself this question “Is it in walking distance?” While having a vehicle is quite the convenience, walking on the daily can make a drastic difference in your physical appearance as well as energy levels.

· Choose the stairs- not the elevator.

· For those tied to a desk for the majority of the day, make sure to get up and take a lap around the office or home. Forbes online has a number of exercises that can be done while sitting at the desk.

· If you must indulge in fast food, know what you are eating. Most fast food restaurants do have a menu for the health conscious. Health Magazine shares the top 10 healthiest fast food restaurants in America.

· Last, but certainly not least, make sure to get enough sleep. The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute suggest 7 to 8 hours a night.

Subtle alterations to your daily schedules can make all the difference and kick start your journey to a healthier lifestyle. Incorporating some of the above recommendations is a great start!
