Issaquah Makes Appearance On 'Star Trek: Discovery'

In the 23rd Century, Issaquah is still around, at least according to the latest episode of "Star Trek: Discovery."

ISSAQUAH, WA - Hundreds of years in the future in a galaxy far far away, Issaquah is still be boldly going. That's according to the latest episode of the new "Star Trek: Discovery" series. Issaquah was named as the location where one of the main characters grew up.

The latest episode, which aired Sunday, features a scene between Capt. Gabriel Lorca and Lt. Ash Tyler where the characters are practicing fighting techniques with holographic Klingons. At one point, Lorca asks Tyler where he's from.

Lorca: Where do you hail from soldier?
Ash: Seattle.
Lorca: Your mother was a teacher, right?
Ash: Yeah, 3rd grade.
Lorca: Issaquah Elementary. 24 kilometers outside of Seattle which makes you not exactly from Seattle ... I like to split hairs.

Two things to correct there: there is no Issaquah Elementary - the closest is Issaquah Valley Elementary. And Seattle is more like 27 kilometers from Issaquah, but maybe by the year 2250 Issaquah has expanded to take over Bellevue or something.
