Issaquah Rattlesnake Lake Drowning Victim Identified

The 33-year-old jumped off a raft Tuesday night at the popular swimming spot near North Bend.

ISSAQUAH, WA — A 33-year-old man from Issaquah drowned Tuesday night in Rattlesnake Lake. He was identified Thursday afternoon as Valentin Lovin, and his cause of death was drowning, the King County Medical Examiner said.

Lovin was on a raft at around 6:30 p.m. when he apparently jumped into the lake, the King County Sheriff's Office said. He never resurfaced, and his friends attempted to find him.

Firefighters from Snoqualmie and Eastside Fire searched for him for about an hour using drones and boats. Firefighters returned to the lake on Wednesday morning and were able to find his body.

Lovin's age was initially reported by police to be 38, but the medical examiner said he was 33.
