New Poll In WA-8 Race Is Inconclusive - For Now

ISSAQUAH, WA - A New York Times/Sienna College poll this week of 8th Congressional District has produced frustratingly inconclusive results. After three days of polling, Republican Dino Rossi and Democrat Kim Schrier are dead even in the poll - 45 percent to 45 percent.

Pollsters, however, are not done yet. They will continue to contact WA-8 voters tonight, which might change the poll. After calling over 22,000 people in the district, pollsters have only reached 324 people, which is a pretty small sample.

"Our poll result so far is about what was expected. It’s still early, though. Each candidate’s total could easily be six points different if we polled everyone in the district. And having a small sample is only one possible source of error," the New York Times wrote of the results.

But the dead-even poll result matches with most other polling in the race. A previous New York Times/Sienna College poll had Schrier and Rossi about even at 46 to 45 percent. A Crosscut/Elway poll taken during the Brett Kavanaugh affair had Rossi up 10 points over Schrier, but that was still within the poll's margin of error.

Still, the newest poll had some interesting tidbits (so far).

Rossi's "unfavorable" rating was 47 percent, higher than his 43 percent "favorable" rating. Schrier was more well-liked, with a 46 percent favorable and 38 unfavorable ratings.

Most WA-8 voters in the poll don't like Donald Trump. Forty-eight percent disapproved of the job he's doing.

At this point, waiting until Election Day will probably be easier than watching polls. But you can watch the latest poll numbers change here.
