ISSAQUAH, WA — A truck hauling about 11,000 chickens skidded off the side of SR 18 on Wednesday afternoon, but thankfully none of the chickens were able to get out.

The crash was reported around 2:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of SR 18 near the Tiger Mountain summit. The truck reportedly veered off onto the soft shoulder and got stuck. Tow trucks were called to get the truck back on the road.

This isn't the first local fowl-up involving a truck hauling poultry.

Last July, a truck carrying chickens from a Foster Farms facility made an illegal U-turn along SR 502 in the hamlet of Dollars Corner north of Vancouver. The truck tipped over, spilling many chickens. The main investigator of the crash was a Washington State Patrol trooper named B.D. Chicks.

"Very clucky chickens," WSP spokesman Rick Johnson said of the SR 18 crash on Twitter.
