Parcels Proposed For Community Facilities

The City of Issaquah is considering changes to the land use designation and zoning of 14 parcels owned by the city or Issaquah Schools.

The City of Issaquah is considering changes to the land use designation and zoning of 14 parcels owned by either the city or Issaquah School District.

These parcels are currently designated for either low-density residential, retail or mixed use. If approved, the 14 parcels would instead be designated to provide public benefit by the city, King County and Issaquah School District.

Per the City’s municipal code, the primary intent of Community Facilities zones are for:

  • Open Space: Low-impact, low-intensity uses such as permanent open space, passive hiking trails and passive interpretative trails.
  • Recreation: Community recreational developments, such as ballparks, community parks, interpretative trails, accessory concession stands and “tot lot” parks.
  • Facilities: Community facilities, such as indoor recreation-oriented development; utilities; government facilities; libraries; daycares; conference centers; schools; park and rides; banquet reception halls; museums; or public/private projects.

Every city in Washington state is required to adopt (and update) a Comprehensive Plan, which establishes the City's future vision and policy direction. These proposed zoning are a part of Issaquah’s possible Comprehensive Plan and zoning amendments for 2019.
