Photos: Habitat for Humanity Opens 10 Cottages In Sammamish

The Pine Lake-area homes were built over the last three years by volunteers with Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County.

SAMMAMISH, WA — Three years of work and thousands of volunteer hours culminated in the opening on Saturday of 10 affordable homes in Sammamish.

The Sammamish Cottages Community opened on June 22 along 228th Avenue Southeast near Pine Lake. The project began in 2013 when the city of Sammamish donated the land for the project. Since then, prospective homeowners and other local volunteers and organizations have helped Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County build the homes.

The cottages range from 1,000 to 1,500 square-feet, and will house 15 adults and 24 children, according to Habitat for Humanity. The homeowners each donated at least 250 hours of labor to the project.
