Pine Lake In Sammamish Reopens After Bacteria Drops

Just in time for the Wednesday heat, Sammamish's Pine Lake beach is back open.

SAMMAMISH, WA — Just in time for Wednesday's serious heat, Pine Lake beach in Sammamish has been reopened by King County.

The beach closed on Aug. 19 after King County found that the average bacteria level over the last three tests exceeded acceptable levels. The Aug. 19 test found about 233 colony-forming units (CFU) of bacteria per 100 milliliters of water on average over three tests. The maximum is 200 CFU when averaging water samples.

The last bacteria test on Aug. 26 showed bacteria levels had dropped to about 49 CFU on average over the last three tests. The swimming areas at Beaver Lake and Lake Sammamish were also open on Wednesday.
